Table Converter

Convert a table between CSV, TSV, JSON, Markdown, HTML, SQL, XML, YAML, LaTeX, ASCII and more. Paste, drop a file, pick a target format.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded.

About this tool

Paste a table, drop a file onto the input, or load the sample, then choose a target format. The source format is detected automatically and can be overridden. Eleven input formats and twenty output formats are supported, so any pair is one dropdown apart. The chosen pair is written into the URL, so a specific conversion can be bookmarked or shared. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

Questions & answers

What is a table converter?
It is a tool that reads a table written in one text format and rewrites it in another — for example CSV into a Markdown table, or an HTML table into SQL INSERT statements. The table itself is unchanged; only the notation around it differs.
How do I convert Excel to Markdown?
Copy the cells in Excel and paste them here. A spreadsheet copies as tab-separated text, which this tool reads as TSV, so you can select Markdown as the output format straight away without saving a file.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Parsing and formatting both run in your browser, and the page makes no network request with your content. You can confirm this by opening your browser's network panel while converting.
When should I turn off type detection?
Turn it off when your columns hold identifiers that only look numeric — zip codes, part numbers, phone numbers with leading zeros. With detection on they become numbers in JSON, YAML and SQL output, and a leading zero is lost.
Why does the URL change when I pick a format?
The input and output formats are stored in the URL so a particular conversion can be bookmarked or shared. Opening that link reopens the tool with the same pair already selected.
