Questions & answers
- Does the alignment row become a data row?
- No. The required dash-and-colon alignment row is used to recognize the table and is omitted from CSV and TSV output.
- Can a Markdown cell contain a pipe character?
- Yes. Escape it as \| and the preview and exports keep it as a literal pipe inside one cell.
- When should I add a UTF-8 BOM?
- Add it when a spreadsheet application has trouble recognizing UTF-8 text. Most modern data tools do not require it.
